Profile
SLIDE develops furniture and lighting systems in plastic materials through a design approach that combines research, production and spatial identity. Founded by Giò Colonna Romano in 2002 in Buccinasco, on the outskirts of Milan, the company has progressively defined a recognisable language in which material and colour interpret new ways of contemporary living, across indoor and outdoor environments.
Through rotational moulding, SLIDE transforms plastic into a design material capable of combining lightness, durability and formal continuity, giving shape to collections created for the hospitality, contract, residential and public sectors.
Over time, the brand has collaborated with internationally renowned designers including Alessandro Mendini, Paola Navone, Stefano Giovannoni, Marcel Wanders, Karim Rashid, Marc Sadler, Fabio Novembre, Francesco Favaretto and Marcantonio, building a catalogue that alternates iconic products with systems designed for contemporary living.
Today, SLIDE is evolving its production system through SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE, a process that progressively introduces recycled plastic as the brand’s new material reference, strengthening the dialogue between design, production and sustainability.
Made in Slide: material, process, control
SLIDE internally manages all the main stages of production at its Buccinasco headquarters: experimentation, prototyping, engineering, rotational moulding, finishing and logistics. An integrated system that ensures continuity between design vision and industrial production.
This approach, identified as “Made in SLIDE”, allows the company to maintain direct control over the development of its collections, ensuring production flexibility, operational speed and design consistency. At the core of the process lies rotational moulding, a technology that makes it possible to create monomaterial products characterised by structural resistance, visual continuity and adaptability to both indoor and outdoor environments.
Over time, SLIDE has expanded this production culture by introducing new finishes, tactile textures, lighting systems and complementary materials such as fabrics, HPL and metals. The result is a coherent ecosystem in which furniture and lighting interact through shared proportions, chromatic continuity and material research.
Second Life. First Nature: a new production paradigm
SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE marks a decisive step in SLIDE’s evolution, introducing a structural revision of the company’s production system and design framework. Recycled plastic becomes the new material reference, redefining the development logic of the entire catalogue.
The process begins with the outdoor collections and progressively extends across all product families, shaping a new generation of furnishings developed through a conscious, long-term approach. This transformation is accompanied by a new colour palette created in close relation to recycled material. The eleven shades expand the brand’s expressive possibilities, strengthening continuity and recognisability across the collections.
SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE introduces a new design and narrative dimension: products are placed within extreme natural landscapes — deserts, tropical forests, ancient geological formations and ocean coastlines — where material establishes direct relationships with scale, resistance and perception.
Sustainability
For SLIDE, sustainability does not exclusively concern the use of recycled materials, but involves the entire production system and supply chain. The company primarily works with linear low-density polyethylene, a fully recyclable monomaterial designed to ensure long-term durability.
Rotational moulding makes it possible to create resistant products with reduced material waste and extended life cycles, particularly suited to outdoor and contract environments. Alongside recycled plastics, SLIDE continues to experiment with second-life materials and bio-based polymers, integrating new solutions into selected collections.
The production model itself also reflects a strong connection to the local territory: the majority of suppliers are based in Italy, mainly in Lombardy, allowing the company to maintain a controlled supply chain and reduce logistical impact. Sustainability is therefore interpreted as a balance between durability, process control, material research and the conscious management of resources.
Collections
SLIDE collections are conceived as transversal systems capable of adapting to hospitality, contract, residential and public environments. Furniture, lighting and complementary elements are developed through a shared language in which colour and material create continuity across different product families.
Over time, the catalogue has evolved from a series of iconic objects into an articulated range of collections designed to shape coherent and recognisable environments. Seating systems such as Low Lita, Mara, Kami, Chubby and Reborn explore different relationships between comfort, structure and perception, while lighting collections including Globo, Pivot and Cucun define atmospheres through diffused, architectural light.
Alongside these systems, SLIDE continues to develop highly recognisable products such as the Amore bench, Queen of Love and Ambrogio, elements that have contributed to defining the brand’s visual identity internationally.
Contract & Special Projects: design in dialogue with architecture
SLIDE collaborates with hotels, restaurants, retail spaces, public areas, events and international hospitality projects, developing furniture and lighting systems capable of adapting to a wide variety of architectural contexts.
The versatility of rotational moulding, combined with the flexibility of in-house production, allows the company to respond to customised design requirements, developing solutions suited to temporary installations, outdoor environments and high-intensity-use spaces.
Alongside contract projects, SLIDE creates capsule collections, installations and special collaborations that explore the relationship between design, art and experimentation, expanding the expressive possibilities of materials and encouraging dialogue with different creative disciplines.
