Design and hospitality meet in Milan with an installation unveiled during the recent Design Week 2024. SLIDE, which was born out of a desire to produce furniture and light to create the perfect atmosphere that emphasises emotions, has realised an installation at the Hotel Indigo Milan, Corso Monforte 27, starring Banana Leaf, an indoor and outdoor lamp that completes the Afrika collection. From the name of the piece to be launched on this occasion comes the title Going Bananas, which also emphasises the playful aspect of the installation.
The installation, as well as the iconic Afrika collection, is designed by Marcantonio, a well-known designer who has already collaborated with SLIDE. The project starts from the hotel façade, which will be illuminated by several pieces of Banana Leaf in a scenographic installation with a strong visual impact, and continues inside in the lobby, lounge and courtyard with other pieces from the Afrika collection such as Kroko and Threebù. Hotel Indigo Milan, owned by Planetaria Hotels and part of the InterContinental Group, is a boutique hotel located in a prestigious early nineteenth-century building in the historic centre of Milan and is characterised by a colonnaded cloister and an internal courtyard overlooked by some of its fifty-one rooms. It is the ideal place to emphasise how design and hospitality are two worlds that are increasingly connected and complementary, both for designers, who are called upon to design environments that are not only functional but also beautiful and empathetic, and for the final public, who are not only looking for high quality services but also emotional and sensorial experiences.
The project has been launched with a conversation on design and hospitality attended by architect Sofia Gioia Vedani of Planetaria Hotels, Marco Colonna Romano Ceo of SLIDE, designer Marcantonio and Emma King, Head of Premium, Luxury and Lifestyle Design of the InterContinental Group, which has over 6,000 hotels worldwide. The conversation focused on the relationship between design and the hotel world, to improve the customer experience. The passion for design and the aptitude for innovative solutions unite SLIDE and Hotel Indigo Milan in this project that aims to offer a unique and memorable experience which can be experienced first-hand throughout the summer period.
For more than twenty years SLIDE has been offering architects and interior designers outdoor and indoor furniture solutions through a unique and distinctive language, that of plastic. Collections of complete furnishings, lamps and luminous furniture, about 300 products in the catalogue born from the collaboration with internationally renowned designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Paola Navone, Stefano Giovannoni, Fabio Novembre, Marcel Wanders, Karim Rashid, Marc Sadler, Francesco Favaretto and Marcantonio.
