SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE

A paradigm shift in plastic manufacturing

On the occasion of Salone del Mobile.Milano, SLIDE presents SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE, a decisive step in the company’s history that defines a shift in both industrial and design paradigms. With SECOND LIFE, SLIDE begins the gradual elimination of virgin plastic by systematically introducing recycled plastic materials, which are set to become the company’s new production standard over time. The process starts with outdoor collections and will progressively extend to the entire catalogue, shaping a new generation of furnishings in which material is reborn and given a second life.

FIRST NATURE represents the symbolic and design framework in which this transformation takes shape. SLIDE design is placed within extreme natural landscapes—primordial territories, deserts, ocean coastlines, and ancient geological settings—where natural matter defines space even before architecture. In these contexts, the project demonstrates its ability to endure, engage in dialogue with the environment, and generate new forms of outdoor living.

Supporting this vision is a new color palette, developed to accompany the transition to fully recycled plastic and to establish a direct dialogue with the natural landscapes that inspire the project. The new tones expand the brand’s visual language and become design tools for creating cross-collection compositions.

The narrative unfolds through a series of international landscapes that connect design with some of the most powerful natural geographies on the planet. Within this journey, some of the most representative collections from the SLIDE catalogue coexist alongside new design developments: Reborn, created in collaboration with ecoBirdy and presented at Salone del Mobile 2025 as one of the first concrete examples of recycled plastic use within the SLIDE system; Low Lita, designed by  Paola Navone and now an iconic piece of the brand; and Chubby, designed by Marcel Wanders, with its soft, sculptural volumes conceived for a new vision of outdoor comfort.

Through SECOND LIFE. FIRST NATURE, SLIDE strengthens its role as a design partner for designers, architects, and planners, offering a furniture system capable of combining material research, outdoor durability, and a strong aesthetic identity.

The project presented at Salone del Mobile thus becomes the first chapter of a broader narrative, where design meets the original force of nature.
